Importing Your Legacy Event Registration Data
- Select Tools in the navigation menu and then select Import Manager on the drop-down menu.
- Select New Import.
- Complete Step 1: Choose Data.
a. Select Get Started.
b. Enter Import Name. Select Next.
c. Select Yes to “Does your spreadsheet contain Account ID?” because our spreadsheet has an Account ID column. More questions will populate.
Answer the other questions. When finished, select Next.
d. Select the data you are importing. Then, select Next.
e. On this page you can export your custom data template. This feature is optional. Select Export Template and then Next.
Note: If you are using the given templates, be sure to remove the first two rows before importing.
When saving the excel spreadsheet, make sure it is saved as an .xlsx (Excel) or .csv file.
Once your data is in the template, delete any columns that do not contain any constituent data.
- Complete Step 2: Column Mapping.
Upload your .xlsx or .csv file and select Next.
- Neon CRM will automatically map your data columns to the corresponding standard or custom fields. Check to make sure all the fields are accurate. If you did not configure some of the custom fields under global settings before starting the import, the fields are mapped to “Create As New Field”. When finished, select Next. Please note: Custom fields created in the Import Manager are Account custom fields only. If you wish to import data into Donation, Membership, or Event custom fields, you must create these custom fields before you conduct your import.
Note: If you are using your own template, take extra time to review the mapped fields, and select the appropriate option from each drop-down menu.
- The Field Mapping page may appear if the system wants to verify specific import field data. When finished, select Next.
- Match the Event Names from your spreadsheet to events that already exist in Neon CRM, or select "Create New Event" if the event doesn't exist in Neon CRM yet. For new events you are creating here, the Start Date and End Date are required. When finished, select Check My Data.
- The import manager will check your data for any errors, if any errors appear on your spreadsheet they will be listed here. If you receive the message “Mapping Successful” select Continue with Import.
- The Import Manager is working on your data. You will receive a notification via email, or via the bell icon in the top right of your CRM when your import is complete. Select Close and Exit.
