Account Custom Fields
Custom Fields enable you to collect and track any information not already available as standard account fields. Account Custom Fields are the most useful type of custom fields because account custom fields:
- appear on the About page of both individual and company accounts,
- are available as search criteria and columns in most reports,
- can be added to your standard and custom Neon forms, and
- are supported for self import and account batch update.
Creating Account Custom Fields
To create account custom fields:
1) Select the Settings cog in the upper right corner and then select Global Settings on the drop-down menu.
2. Under the Custom Fields heading, select Account.
3. Select New Custom Field to add a new account custom field.
On the New Custom Field pop-up:
4. Enter the Internal Field Name (for internal use only) and a Public Field Label (the public-facing name of the custom field).
5. Select an Account Type. (This option allows you to decide if the account custom field should appear on all account pages and forms or only Individual and/or Company pages and forms.)
6. Select the Display Type.
- Text Input - Single Line - Allows for the user to input a single line of text.
- Text Input - Multi Line - Allows for the user to input multiple lines of text.
- Checkbox List - Allows the user to select one or more pre-determined value options.
- Dropdown - Allows the user to select one option from a list of pre-determined drop-down menu options.
- Radio Button - Allows the user to select one option from a list of pre-determined value options.
- File - Allows the user to upload a file.
Viewing Account Custom Field Data
All account custom fields will appear on the About page of a constituent's account.
If you've created groups for your account custom fields, each group will have its own configurable widget that you can move around the About page, as needed. All non-grouped fields will appear together in a single widget. Please note: All account custom fields will display in the About section, even if the field does not contain any data for the account which you are viewing.
Reporting on Account Custom Field Data
You can also search on account custom fields using the Account Custom Fields search category in reports.
Account custom fields can be viewed in reports by clicking the Edit Columns button.
In the field selector, enter the search term "(C)" to find all account custom fields, as shown below.
