Account Custom Fields
All Accounts Custom Fields, Individual Custom Fields, and Company Custom Fields allow you to track your own custom data. All Accounts Custom Fields are the most useful type of custom fields as they are available in most reports, they can be added to your Neon forms, and are also supported for self import and account batch update.
Creating Account Custom Fields
Click All Accounts to view your list of existing account custom fields and create new ones open them from System Settings:
Click New Custom Field to add a new Account Custom Field.
Enter the Field Name and select a Display Type.
There are five display types to choose from. This will determine the type of data you collect with this field.
Click Save to create your field.
Viewing Account Custom Field Data
All account custom fields will appear in the About section of a Neon account page. Individual and Company custom data fields will appear in the About sections of the appropriate account types.
The custom fields will appear in separate widgets by Custom Data Group. Any non grouped custom fields will appear in a single Non Grouped widget.
You can also search on Account Custom Fields in reports.
Account custom fields can be viewed in reports by clicking the Select Columns button. From the field selector, enter the search term "(C)" to find all account custom fields, as shown below.
Account Name Display
The Account Name Display setting adjusts how individual account names appear in list pages throughout the system. For example, if you'd like to sort names by Last Name on the Accounts page, adjust the setting to [Last Name], [First Name] here.
The Individual Type field is used to categorize individual accounts for internal use. When creating or editing an individual account, this field displays as a group of checkboxes. The field will only appear on the account edit page once you've configured your list of values. To define the values for this list, navigate to: Global Settings > Accounts > Properties > Individual Types
When selected, these designations appear on an Individual account in the About section, as shown in the example below.
Company Type is a field used to categorize company accounts for internal use. When creating or editing a company account, this field displays as a group of checkboxes. The field will only appear on the account edit page once you've configured your list of values. To define the values for this list, navigate to Global Settings > Accounts > Properties > Company Types.
When selected, these designations appear on a company account in the About section, as shown in the example below.
You can create a two-way relationship link between two accounts in NeonCRM. Define the types of relationships available by editing your Relation Type settings. To configure this list, navigate to Global Settings > Accounts > Properties > Account Relationship Types
From here, there are three lists of relation types:
- Individual-Individual Relation Types
- Company-Company Relation Types
- Individual-Company Relation Types
Click Add to add a new option to the list, or check the boxes next to an option and click Delete to remove it.
If you try to delete an option that has been applied to any accounts or contacts in your system, you will receive a notification:
To remove the existing role data and continue with the deletion, click OK.
By setting the Status to Active, the choice becomes available for users to select it. By making it Inactive, you preserve existing relationships of this type while making it unavailable for new relationships.
Address types allows users to customize the option for Address Type.
Note: It will not be possible to turn off defaults types (home, work, school, other), but custom types can be renamed, turned on/off, hidden from view by constituents, etc.
To Add a new address type, select New Address Type, then complete the fields. When finished, select Create Address Type.
To make changes to the custom address types, select the actions icon to view options.
A Name Prefix is a proper title that appears before somebody's name. These can be added and configured to meet the needs of your constituency. These will appear as a drop-down list when entering contact information. This list is available to front-end users as well. To configure this list, navigate to: Global Settings > Accounts > Properties > Name Prefixes.
By default, Neon CRM is configured with the options: Man, Non-binary, Prefer not to say, and Woman. You can edit, add, or delete options to meet the needs of your constituency.
To configure this list, navigate to: Global Settings > Accounts > Properties > Genders. The list is alphabetical by default but can be reordered using the "Reorder Display Sequence" button.
Account Note Type
System Users can add notes to Neon CRM Accounts. These are available only to System Users from the back-end. Notes will appear in the Notes section on the Account page.
Define different account note types here: Global Settings > Accounts > Properties > Account Note Types.
Adding options here will give you a drop-down list when adding a note.
Source is used to track more specific information about how a transaction came to occur. Source is unique because it is available on all transaction types in Neon (donations, event registrations, memberships, and store purchases), as well as on accounts themselves.
To configure this list, navigate to:
Global Settings > Accounts > Sources for Accounts and Transactions.
From this page, you can edit or delete existing Sources as well as add new ones. The Status drop-down indicates if this source is active or not.
Default Source for online transactions
Upon submitting your changes, you'll be taken to a page where you have the option to specify a default Source for transactions that come in via your front-end forms. Leave this blank if you do not want Neon to automatically assign a default source for online donations, memberships and event registrations.
Enable the congressional district look-up utility.
Wealth Screen Settings
Wealth Screen Rating is an indicator that shows up on a constituent's account page. It pulls from U.S. census data to examine the ZIP code of the constituent and assesses either the average household income or the average housing value of that ZIP code to give you a rating that is displayed with stars.
