Learn how to customize the constituent login portal in this step-by-step guide.
The Constituent Portal is the only way for constituents to
- access timesheets,
- access constituent-restricted custom web pages,
- manage their recurring transactions,
- manage their peer to peer fundraising page,
- and upload files.
Additionally, constituents should be logged in to renew their memberships or receive constituent-restricted event registration prices. These can be done through the Constituent Portal or Email Link Authentication.
However, if you are not using these features, no need to ask constituents to log in.
This help guide will cover customizing the constituent portal.

Constituent Portal
Constituents can access their Neon CRM account information and transaction history (i.e. donations, event registrations, memberships, store purchases) with your organization from your Constituent Portal.
Many organizations using Neon CRM choose to add a direct link to the Constituent Portal to their website's header or navigation menu. Example:
Locate the URL for your Constituent Login Page
1. Navigate to Forms & Pages and select Landing Pages.
The Landing Pages page will appear.
2. Select View Page to access the URL and copy and paste it as needed.
Navigating to the Constituent Portal as a System User
1. Navigate to the Settings cog and select Global Settings.
2. Under Constituent Portal, you will be able to make changes to your constituent portal.
Below is a preview of the Constituent Login Page and what constituents will see upon successful log in. Many of the items displayed below are customizable, as outlined in subsequent sections.
Constituent Portal Dashboard
The Constituent Portal Dashboard will be the first thing a constituent sees upon logging in to your front-end Constituent Login Portal.
1. Navigate to Settings cog and select Global Settings.
2. Under Constituent Portal, select Constituent Portal Dashboard
Photo Approval Setting
3. You can control whether profile photos must be approved by a system user before they can be displayed (typically on a member directory).
Update the Dashboard Message
4. Using the editor, you can add a custom welcome message, links and instructions, and/or photos to share with your constituents when they log in.
Portal Pages
Control what your constituents can do while logged in to their Neon CRM account.
Example:
1. Navigate to Settings cog and select Global Settings.
2. Under Constituent Login Portal select Portal Pages.
From this page, you have many options for customizing the user menu, as well as the content of the pages they access. There are two types of pages:
Both Standard and Custom Portal Pages can be added or removed from the Constituent Login Portal via the "Publish" toggle. When the toggle is blue, the page is published and will be visible in the Portal, when the page is grey it is hidden.
Standard Portal Pages
Standard Portal Pages are pages that Neon CRM supplies by default. These options can be edited or unpublished, but cannot be deleted.
Some of the Standard Menu Options direct logged in constituents to pages where they can view and print their transaction history with your organization. These include:
- Donations - donation history
- Memberships - membership history
- Registered Events - event registration history
- Orders - store purchase history
Click the pencil icon to the right of each page to customize it. You will be able to change the page title for all Standard Menu Options, and some pages have additional customization options - specifically, the Donations and Memberships pages can be adjusted to show/hide recurring donation and auto-renewal membership options.
Changes made to Portal Pages will be automatically saved. If you change the Display Name for a Portal Page, the updated Display Name will be shown in the "Display Name" column. The Display Name will be visible to constituents inside the Constituent Login Portal, rather than the default page name.
How do I manage which account, membership, and donation forms are linked to standard Portal Pages and the Dashboard?
Many places inside the Constituent Login Portal link to forms, allowing your constituents to quickly make a donation, join or renew their membership, update their Profile, etc.
By default, your Neon CRM system includes forms linked to the Constituent Portal. Go to Forms & Pages > Forms. Depending on the modules you are using in Neon CRM, you will see either 2 or 3 forms at the top of the list with an icon indicating that they are your Portal Forms. These forms will be automatically linked to the Portal Dashboard, Donations List, Memberships List, and the Update Profile link.
You also have the ability to update membership through the account page by selecting Upgrade Membership.
Updating these forms:
You are welcome to edit these forms from the Forms list page to make sure they align with your branding and the questions you'd like to ask your constituents. To access:
1. Select the Settings Cog (in the upper right corner of the screen)
2. Select Global Settings from the drop-down menu.
3. In the Constituent Portal section of the global settings page, select Portal Pages.
4. Select the edit (pencil icon) in the Memberships (Standard) row.
5. You will then see the Edit Portal Page pop-up below.
Membership users have the ability to hide the standard Join/Renew/Upgrade buttons, Manage Auto-Renew Button, and Manage Monthly Installment Button from showing up in the portal.
Note: Forms linked to the Portal must have "Allow Constituent Login" enabled and must have the Form Type "Individual & Company" in order to make sure your Constituent Portal works for both individual and company accounts. Because of this, these two options will not be editable inside the Form Builder.
Additionally, forms linked to the Portal will not be possible to Unpublish from the Forms list, since taking the form offline would break functions inside the Portal. You will need to set a new form to be linked to the Portal before the original can be removed (see below for instructions).
If you would like to use a form for non-Portal purposes and need to change these settings, there are two options:
1. Make a duplicate of your form (available from the Form List under the Actions menu). The duplicate will allow all editing options.
2. Create a different form to link to the Portal.
To change which form is linked to the Portal, you can adjust the Portal link inside the Actions Menu on the form list:
Note: Because Forms linked to the Portal need to be available to both individual and company accounts, it will not be possible to link a form to the portal unless it is set to the Form Type "Individual & Company." If the option to link your form to the portal is not clickable, edit your form and change this setting:
Additionally, the form must be in "Published" status before it can be linked to the Portal.
Membership Upgrade on Constituent Portal
Constituents can upgrade their membership on the Dashboard or Membership page by selecting Upgrade.
Custom Portal Pages
You can also add your own Custom Portal Pages to the Constituent Portal by selecting "Add Portal Page" at the top right.
Type in the Portal Page Name (this will also be the Display Name, so give it a name that can be understood by your constituents). Then, choose whether the Portal Page will be:
- A Neon CRM Form (created under Forms & Pages > Forms). For this option, you'll select a form by name from a list. More information about creating forms here.
- A Neon CRM Web Page (created under Forms & Pages > Web Pages). For this option, you'll select a Web Page by name from a list. More information about creating Web Pages here.
- A custom URL of your choice (this could be a page on your website or an outside resource you want to link for your Constituents). For this option, type in the URL you want to link to your Constituent Login Portal.
Organizing your Portal Pages
To adjust the order of the Portal Pages list (and therefore the order of the dropdown menu inside the Constituent Login Portal), drag and drop the grip buttons on the left side of the list.
Constituent Login Page
Customize the constituent login page.
1. Navigate to Settings cog and select Global Settings
2. Under Constituent Login Portal select Constituent Login Page.
3. Add a message and select its placement. You can also modify the link text.
4. You can also reset password message here.
Third-Party Login

1. Navigate to Settings cog and select Global Settings
2. Under Constituent Portal select Third-Party Login.
3. Enable Third-Party Login and control the contact information you collect for accounts created with this feature.
Transaction Field Display
On the Standard Portal Pages that display transaction information, you can control which data fields are visible or hidden for constituents.
1. Navigate to Settings cog and select Global Settings
2. Under Constituent Portal select Transaction Field Display.
3. For Donations, Event Registrations, and Memberships, you can control the historic transaction details that are visible to your constituents. Toggle to the left of each field to hide it from the Constituent Login Portal. When the toggle is blue, the field is active and will be seen by your constituents.
