The Constituent Login Portal is the only way for constituents to
- access timesheets,
- access constituent-restricted custom web pages,
- manage their recurring transactions,
- manage their peer to peer fundraising page,
- and upload files.
Additionally, constituents should be logged in to renew their memberships or receive constituent-restricted event registration prices. These can be done through the Constituent Login Portal or Email Link Authentication.
However, if you are not using these features, no need to ask constituents to log in.
Constituent Login Portal
Constituents can access their Neon CRM account information and transaction history (i.e. donations, event registrations, memberships, store purchases) with your organization from your Constituent Login Portal.
Many organizations using Neon CRM choose to add a direct link to the Constituent Login Portal to their website's header or navigation menu. Example:
You can find the URL for your Constituent Login Page under Forms & Pages > Links & Pages > Neon CRM URL.
To customize the Constituent Login Portal, find the settings for your login portal under Settings cog > Global Settings > Constituent Login Portal.
While system users will be taken to Neon CRM upon logging in, your constituents will be taken to your customized Constituent Login Portal.
Constituents will see their name and account ID in the upper left, your Login Portal Message front and center and a dropdown menu on the upper right for easy navigation to where you want them to go.
Constituent Portal Dashboard
The Constituent Portal Dashboard will be the first thing a constituent sees upon logging in to your front-end Constituent Login Portal.
To update the dashboard message, navigate to Settings cog > Global Settings > Constituent Portal Dashboard
Portal Dashboard Message
Using the editor, you can add a custom welcome message, links and instructions, and/or photos to share with your constituents when they log in.
Photo Approval Setting
You can also control whether profile photos must be approved by a system user before they can be displayed (typically on a member directory). For more information, see this guide.
Portal Pages
Control what your constituents can do while logged in to their Neon CRM account by customizing the links available under the "What would you like to do?" drop down menu in the constituent login portal.
This setting is configured here Settings cog > Global Settings > Constituent Login Portal > Portal Pages.
From this page, you have many options for customizing the user menu, as well as the content of the pages they access. There are two types of pages:
Both Standard and Custom Portal Pages can be added or removed from the Constituent Login Portal via the "Publish" toggle. When the toggle is blue, the page is published and will be visible in the Portal, when the page is grey it is hidden.
Standard Portal Pages
Standard Portal Pages are pages that Neon CRM supplies by default. These options can be edited or unpublished, but cannot be deleted.
Some of the Standard Menu Options direct logged in constituents to pages where they can view and print their transaction history with your organization. These include:
- Donations - donation history
- Memberships - membership history
- Registered Events - event registration history
- Orders - store purchase history
Click the pencil icon to the right of each page to customize it. You will be able to change the page title for all Standard Menu Options, and some pages have additional customization options - specifically, the Donations and Memberships pages can be adjusted to show/hide recurring donation and auto-renewal membership options.
Changes made to Portal Pages will be automatically saved. If you change the Display Name for a Portal Page, the updated Display Name will be shown in the "Display Name" column. The Display Name will be visible to constituents inside the Constituent Login Portal, rather than the default page name.
Custom Portal Pages
You can also add your own Custom Portal Pages to the Constituent Portal by selecting "Add Portal Page" at the top right.
Type in the Portal Page Name (this will also be the Display Name, so give it a name that can be understood by your constituents). Then, choose whether the Portal Page will be:
- A Neon CRM Form (created under Forms & Pages > Forms). For this option, you'll select a form by name from a list. More information about creating forms here.
- A Neon CRM Web Page (created under Forms & Pages > Web Pages). For this option, you'll select a Web Page by name from a list. More information about creating Web Pages here.
- A custom URL of your choice (this could be a page on your website or an outside resource you want to link for your Constituents). For this option, type in the URL you want to link to your Constituent Login Portal.
Organizing your Portal Pages
To adjust the order of the Portal Pages list (and therefore the order of the dropdown menu inside the Constituent Login Portal), drag and drop the grip buttons on the left side of the list.
Third-Party Login
Allow constituents to create a Neon account and log in via Facebook and/or Twitter. To enable Third-Party Login and control the contact information you collect for accounts created with this feature, navigate to: Settings cog > Global Settings > Constituent Login Portal> Third-Party Login.
The detailed guide to Third-Party Login is found here.
Transaction Field Display
On the Standard Portal Pages that display transaction information, you can control which data fields are visible or hidden for constituents. Click the toggle to the left of each field to hide it from the Constituent Login Portal. When the toggle is blue, the field is active and could be seen by your constituents.
