How do I move money to my bank account?
Payouts are handled automatically by Neon Pay. Payouts may not be scheduled or initiated manually.
What are the available payout schedules?
There are three payout schedules available to both US and CA merchants.
- Daily: these payouts are batched each day and should arrive in your bank account within 1-2 business days.
- Weekly: Neon Pay works with various payment processors to power your payment forms. Depending on your payment processor, your weekly payout will be:
- Generated on Mondays and arrive in your bank account 1-2 business days later
- Generated on Thursdays or Fridays and arrive in your bank account on Mondays
- Monthly: Neon Pay works with various payment processors to power your payment forms. Depending on your payment processor, your monthly payout will be:
- Generated on the first of the month and arrive in your bank account 1-2 business days later
- Reach your bank account on the first business day of the month and be generated 1-2 business prior
Note: Please reach out to Support if you would like to move to a daily payout schedule. Additionally, please note that bank holidays may affect payout generation and delivery.
When will I receive my first payout?
US merchants will receive their first payout according to their payout schedule as soon as they have a settled charge. If you are on weekly payouts, please see the payout schedules section above for more information.
Canadian merchants will experience a 7 day delay for weekly payouts, and these merchants will experience a 14 day delay for daily payouts. This means that while payouts will be batched on a normal interval, that batch will not be sent to your bank account until 7 or 14 days later respectively.
Example: if you are a weekly CA merchant, you will receive payouts every week. The charges in each payout will be those that settled during the time period two weeks prior. Let's say you have charges from the first Monday in a given month. The charges from that day will be batched that first Thursday or Friday. The payout record will appear in Neon Pay the second Thursday or Friday. The funds will hit your bank account on the third Monday.
Please note that these dates may not be reflected in the "Next Payout Date" widget on the Neon Pay dashboard. If you have a question about your first payout, please reach out to the support team.
How do I change how often my payouts occur?
In Neon Pay, navigate to the Merchant Accounts menu item. Click on the name of the Merchant Account you want to edit, which will take you to the Merchant Account Details page. Click the pen to edit the Payout Schedule.
Note: Please reach out to Support if you would like to move to a daily payout schedule. Additionally, please note that bank holidays may affect payout generation and delivery.
How do I change the banking information payouts are sent to?
Navigate to the Merchant Accounts menu item. Select the name of the Merchant Account. Click the pencil icon next to Linked Bank Account.
How long does a payout take to process?
Typically, a payout takes around 1-2 business days to move from the Processing status to Processed. After processing, it typically takes 12-24 hours for the funds to be deposited to the linked bank account. Holidays and weekends may delay funds moving to a bank account.
Will I be notified when I receive a payout?
Neon Pay users can opt in or out of payout emails. To adjust these settings, navigate to User Preferences from the Settings cog in Neon Pay. After subscribing to emails, you will have the option to turn on or off payout emails. The email will state the amount included in the payout. It will also have a link to the Payout Transactions page in Neon Pay, and it will prompt you to download the Payout Transactions export in either Excel or CSV.
Note: If the payout contains 5,000 records or more, the export will only be available as a CSV, which will be sent to you in a follow-up email after you click the link.
How does a payout appear on my bank statement?
The amount of the payout will appear on your bank statement, along with the billing descriptor “MerchPayout SVT9 Neon Pay Payout." Note: While this is the information Neon Pay supplies to your bank, they may choose not to include the entire billing descriptor.
Can I view the total charges included or total fees I was charged for a payout?
Yes. Navigate to the payout you’d like to view. Once the payout is fully processed, indicated by the Processed status, your payout summary appears at the top of the page.
Why is the number of fees greater than the number of charges?
A single charge may incur multiple fees: authorization, capture, American Express surcharge, etc. We record and total every fee in the payout to be as precise as possible.
A simpler look at the fees assessed per charge is available in the Total Fees column of the payout's transactions table, the Charges table, or the Charge Report.
How do I view the transactions that made up a payout?
Click the Payouts menu option to view a list of payouts deposited to your bank account, then click the payout you’d like to view. At the bottom of the Payout Detail page, you'll find a list of transactions included in the payout.
Note: The transactions table does not appear until the payout moves to the Processed status and all entries are available.
I don't want to see all of the transaction fees in the payout. How can I choose what to include in my export?
You can use the Type filter on the payout's transaction table to filter what items appear in the table to export.
How do I extract information from Neon Pay for reconciliation?
Every table in Neon Pay can be exported to CSV or Excel file format. To download a file of the activity included in a payout, click the blue Export icon on the right side of the screen.
Note: If the table you are exporting contains 5,000 records or more, you will receive an email to download the export when it is ready.
What is Amount Withheld?
A portion of the Neon Pay balance not included in a payout. Common reasons that funds are withheld include:
- We calculate transaction fees out to several decimal places, but we can only pay out amounts of a penny or more. Lingering thousandths of a cent will be held until the payout total reaches a penny.
- There is some processing time between when a payout is requested & processed. If a refund is requested, a dispute is filed, or a charge is canceled during this period, it could bring the Neon Pay balance below 0. If your Neon Pay balance becomes negative after the payout is requested but before it is processed, funds will be held to offset the negative amount against the balance of your next payout.
Note: An Amount Withheld is always paid out in the next payout as a Rollover amount.
What is a rollover from a previous payout?
Funds that were held during payout processing from a previous period. The funds are now available to be paid out to your bank account.
Can I disable payouts?
No. Payouts will continue as long as funds are processed on the merchant account.
How do I report on data in Neon Pay?
Navigate to the relevant module, such as Charges. Use the filters at the top of the page or Search by Customer to identify a sub-set. Click the Export icon in order to produce a CSV or Excel file of the selected transactions.
Note: If the table you are exporting contains 5,000 records or more, you will receive an email to download the export when it is ready.
Here are a few tips for better reporting.
- Date Range:
- Today, This Month, and This Year refer to calendar time. This Month, for example, includes June, not the last thirty days. These values are inclusive of the first and last value.
- Select Custom Range to enter your own dates.
- Status: refer to our full status glossary here
