Ticket stock for use with the DYMO Labelwriter 450 Turbo
We've designed custom ticket stock for use with the DYMO - it's perforated and includes a timing bar on the back which controls the ticket printout.
Continuous roll non-perforated receipt paper cannot be used with this printer for ticket printing from Arts People. Please see below for custom ticket stock ordering information under Summary>Media.
Summary:
Printer: Available for purchase through
various sources. Amazon.com has them available with an average price of $80 plus shipping. Speed listed at 71 "labels" per minute. Works with Windows® XP, Windows Vista™ (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows® 7 or Mac OS® v.10.4 or later. Connects via USB cable. 600x300 dpi resolution thermal print head delivers a crisp and clear image quality - being a thermal printer, it will print black only by affecting the heat sensitive media. All media for this printer is on a roll with perforation. There is no cutter option on this printer.
Suited for: This printer is well suited for small box office operations, printing a limited quantity of tickets on a regular basis. It also is very easy to pack and go, so would be very handy for a remote box office or temporary box office set up at your venue.
Media: For use with Arts People, you'll use thermal ticket stock with your DYMO printer. Ticket stock ordering information is below in Full Instructions>Step 2.
Setup: Box office versions of Ticket, Receipt and Gift Certificate need to be configured in your Arts People account. There are pre-designed defaults for the custom 4" x 1.975" DYMO ticket stock. Your Client Services support person can put the box office DYMO designs in place for you quickly. Submit a help request to get the process going. This information is repeated below in Full Instructions>Step 3.

- Or, you can design your own box office ticket, receipt, gift certificate in Public Setup>Ticket Design.
- Box office versions of ticket, receipt and gift certificate should alll match size. This way they can all print easily from the same printer.
- Note that you will not be actually testing the printing of these designs at this stage. Refer to the steps below for full setup.
Step 4: Install Printer Driver
Once your printer arrives, install printer driver software on each computer which will be using this printer. (DO NOT CONNECT PRINTER TO COMPUTER UNTIL AFTER DRIVER SOFTWARE IS INSTALLED)
1. If you received a CD with the printer driver on it with your DYMO and your computer can accept the CD you may use it to download the printer driver to your computer and skip the below directions for downloading the printer driver online. After the driver has been downloaded and installed to your computer from the CD, you'll move to step 4.
If you don't have the CD with the driver on it, or your computer can't accept a CD you'll follow the below directions for downloading the printer driver online.
- Go to http://www.dymo.com
- Choose “support” on top menu
- Choose labelwriter 450 turbo from the product list
- Choose windows or mac, then drivers
- WINDOWS: choose appropriate driver – likely x64 driver
- MAC: Choose “DYMO Label Software 8.4.1 Mac”
- Click Download on your option
- If your computer warns you about the download, click ok
- Open downloaded file and follow instructions to install.
Step 5: Connect printer to your computer
- Set up your printer, plug in the power and power it on
- Connect the printer to your computer via the USB cable (make sure software is already installed in Step 3 above) BEFORE CONNECTING.
- When connected, the computer should recognize the printer and it should appear on your printers system screen.
NOTE with Mac computers. If the printer doesn't recognize, try opening your printers system screen, click + at the bottom left to add a printer. Then DOUBLE CLICK the Dymo printer. Hopefully the ADD button at the bottom right will become active and then you'll have the printer installed. We have run into some complications at this stage, getting the printer to actually appear in the printers list as active.
4. If this will be the default printer on this computer, you can choose and set it as default. Otherwise you'll need to select it when you go to print from the system.

Test Transaction method for testing your printing
- If you haven't yet processed a ticket sale in your system and/or you would like to test your printing of gift certificates and other items that are not as frequently sold as tickets are, please use the below instructions on how to generate test transactions to test your printing.
- Generate a test transaction via your box office screen so you have a valid ticket confirmation code to use in test printing. Click here for instructions on how to generate Test Transactions
- OR, if you have an existing ticket order you can lookup the order by looking up the customer in the Box Office screen, then clicking View to enter the Order Details screen, then copy the ticket code to your clipboard to be pasted into the Ticket Design screen.
- If selling gift certificates you will want to do a test transaction sale of a gift certificate as well to get a gift certificate code to test.
- Go to Setup >Ticket Design screen. Click on Box Office ticket design. Input the ticket confirmation code to the "Test Ticket code" field, click Save Ticket code then click Preview. (If you still need to complete ticket size setup for your DYMO, refer to step 5 above.) The ticket should appear on screen for you to then send to print. Use CTRL-P (windows) or CMD-P (mac) to print the ticket file on screen.
- Repeat step 4 above on the box office receipt screen and test print a receipt.
- Repeat step 4 above on the box office gift certificate screen and test print a gift certificate
Troubleshooting
- If the ticket, receipt or gift certificate looks correct on screen (2x4” or 1.975x4" dimensions, horizontal read orientation) then it is rendering correctly from Arts People. Continue with checks below.
- Check printer driver settings: If it then comes out at the wrong size or orientation on the printed ticket you may want to check your printer driver settings that appear when you tell the file to print. Make sure there are no settings that seem to be altering the printout. Choosing a reset/default may correct the issue.
- If you need assistance, contact our client services reps by submitting a help desk ticket via the HELP tab in your Arts People system, or if an emergency call 866-788-7853 and following prompts to client services now on call.
- A client informed us that changes to the print quality drastically altered the speed of printing on their DYMO printer. The DYMO generally prints very rapidly, but if you're encountering slower speeds, this might be due to images you're including on your ticket. Changes to print quality might help with this.
