Arts People's box office screens and public online purchase pages prevent a user from entering a credit card incorrectly more than 4 times. This PCI compliance feature helps stop a user from exploiting the payment pages of Arts People to determine if a credit card number is valid or not.
Box Office
After the third failed credit card purchase attempt, a box officer is warned that after one more failed attempt they'll be prevented from processing cc payments for 30 minutes. On this warning window the box officer is given the opportunity to navigate to the Accounting > Credit Card History screen and review the incorrect entry there before attempting the cc purchase again.
Box officer reset
If the box officer submits a fourth failed credit card purchase attempt this will trigger the 30 minute lockout during which they cannot process credit card purchases (other payment methods will work). To reset their 30 min cc lockout timer they can use one of the options below:
1) Contact Arts People via phone or email to clear the cc lockout tied to their Username (call 866-788-7853 ext 2, or email support@arts-people.com).
2) Or, the admin can log out of Arts People and click the 'Forgot Your Password?' link on the Administrator Login page of Arts People. A reset password email will be sent to the email address on file for that box officer in Personal Settings. After the box officer goes through the process of updating their password, they can log in again and process cc payments.
Online
A patron who incorrectly enters a credit card number four times is prevented from completing a credit card purchase for 30 minutes. After the third failed purchase attempt the patron is warned "Your account will be locked for 30 minutes if there's another failed attempt. If you're having difficulty with your purchase please call the box office". If they submit a fourth failed attempt it will trigger a 30 minute lockout and they'll see "Please contact the box office to complete your purchase". At that point they may call your organization's box office with their credit card information so a box officer can complete payment on their behalf.
