Skip the Print Preview page and stop having to click Print twice when printing tickets. This article reviews how to setup a Chrome Desktop shortcut that utilizes kiosk printing.
Kiosk printing shortcuts are available for Windows only.
While this shortcut is nearly equal to regular printing in terms of speed, it streamlines the printing process for some users by eliminating a step from the printing process.
Shortcut setup
1. If you haven't already, download Google Chrome.
2. In Chrome, navigate to Arts People's login page.
3. Setup a Chrome shortcut on your desktop:
1. Click the 3 dot icon in the upper right of your browser window.
2. Click on More tools, then click on Create shortcut.
3. Add the words Kiosk Printing to the shortcut name so you know the shortcut doesn't use the normal Print Preview method of printing. Click Create.
4. Insert --kiosk-printing
Once you've created the shortcut right-click on it.
Select Properties and then copy and paste the below into the Target field.
--kiosk-printing
Paste it in between the two text strings already there. When you paste in
--kiosk-printing leave a space between the start and end.
Click OK to save the update to the shortcut.
5. Open the shortcut and test the kiosk printing feature
Double click on the shortcut icon to open it.
Chrome should open to the Arts People login page in Fullscreen mode.
Login and print some tickets.
When you click the Printer icon in the upper right of the tickets the screen should flash as it enters then quickly exits Chrome's Print Dialogue pop-up. The tickets should print.
6. Modify the shortcut to be Non-Fullscreen
Are you interested in having the shortcut be a little more flexible - so that the browser window isn't in full-screen mode, and additional tabs are allowed? If so, you can create a copy of the shortcut and edit it.
First, right click on the existing shortcut you just made and select Copy
Then click into your desktop nearby and right-click and select Paste
Right-click your newly pasted shortcut and select Properties, delete the last string, after the space and --kiosk printing and type or paste in: https://arts-people.com/login.php
Click OK to save the update.
Right-click again on the new copy pasted shortcut and select Rename.
Rename the shortcut - for example: Kiosk printing - Non-Fullscreen
7. Test the new Non-Fullscreen Kiosk printing shortcut
Double click the shortcut to open it.
You should be directed to the Arts People login page, and not in fullscreen mode.
Print some tickets.
When you print your tickets you should notice the same behavior - when you click the Printer icon in the upper right of the tickets Chrome's Print Dialogue pop-up quickly opens and closes and the tickets print.
If you like this mode better, and want to prevent confusion or use of the other shortcut, find and delete the original Fullscreen Kiosk mode shortcut you made.
8. Use regular Chrome if you don't want to skip Print Preview
If you would like access to the Print Preview window for any reason, use your normal non-shortcut method for opening Chrome to print.
