Multiple email addresses can still be stored on a single patron record.
-
ONE email address will be marked “primary” by the patron or admin user. This is the only email that email marketing and order confirmation emails will be sent to automatically. If the patron has marked this email as “no email” then they will not receive marketing emails. They will still receive confirmation emails.
-
Alternate (non-primary) emails will each be selectable upon completion of an order to receive a copy of the confirmation email.
-
Additionally, emails from related household members will also display in the alternate emails list to select to receive a confirmation copy.
-
Also, an alternate email field will be added for patrons to type in a new email to also receive confirmation. An option is included to save this new email to their patron record.
-
Emails can be shared by more than one patron. For example, husband and wife, or parent and child can now have the same address on both patron records in the database. The only restriction for emails is that one email address cannot be used as LOGIN by more than one patron.
-
Within the database, for patrons with existing emails, the following logic has been applied to mark which email is “primary”:
-
it is set as the primary.
-
If one has a password, it is made the primary. If more than one has a password, the first one alphabetically will be made primary.
-
Otherwise, if one or more is not marked No Email, the first one that is not marked is made the primary.
-
Otherwise, if they are all marked No Email, the first one in alphabetical order is made the primary.
-
-
If the patron has only one email:
-
If the patron has more than one email:
- Primary email can now be changed by the patron on the public side, or by an admin user on the box office or database screens.
- Patrons online can also add and edit existing email addresses.
