The Scan Tickets (old) screen in the Box Office area is our older scanning feature that is being replaced by a more mobile friendly design. It will still be available for the near future however.
Before the performance, the operator connects the barcode scanning device to the computer and then accesses the scanning screen and selects the performance to scan tickets into.
- Input the number of tickets to scan at a time. One is the default and typical setting. But if you are using the feature where each order gets one barcode for multiple tickets, you could change this to 10 if you have an order where you want to scan all 10 seats at one time, then change it back to one.
- Click the cursor into the "cursor here" field.
- Scan barcodes one at a time, watching the screen to update and validate the ticket. All tickets on the order will be displayed for reference, giving the ability to unscan tickets as well.
(Note, even though your scanning device may "beep", this does not indicate the validity of the ticket. Validity is confirmed visually on screen.)
- Statistics will also display showing how many seats are unsold on the performance, how many are on hold, and how many tickets for the entire performance are not yet scanned
Testing and Practice of barcode scanning:
Scanning can only be done for tickets on a performance that is on TODAY'S date (the date you are going to test). So you can add a test performance to a show that is today's date, marking it "not avail online" so only your box office sees it. Then do some Test Transactions for tickets to that performance that you can print out and use for testing. Once done you can release the tickets and delete the performance.
When you have the tickets with barcodes, go to the scanning screen as above and choose the bogus performance. Then you can practice scanning and unscanning tickets.
Please note that sales made in Door Sale modes are marked as scanned after they have been sold by default, so scanning Door Sale tickets will result in an "INVALID This entire order already scanned" message. To change this default, navigate to Setup - Privileged - Global Settings - Ticketing - "Count door tickets as scanned?", uncheck the box, and Save.
NOTE: If using a handheld device, you will want to set each user who will be doing scanning to "Small scanning screen" option. This is done via the Administrators Setup screen.
