How to Process Auction Sales
We suggest using retail "other item" and "other item amount" found on the Retail screen for this.
Method: Input your auction patrons into your database prior to the event. You can also process their auction ticket as a ticketed show or as a retail item. Then as they come to pay out from the auction you can look up their acct on the person screen, click to the retail screen, and in "other item" you can input something like "Auction 8/08 - LOT 14 - Catered Dinner" and in "other item amount" input the price they are paying for that auction item.
This way you have a record of the purchase on their acct, with the details.
Auction items are usually considered retail purchases since the patron is getting something for the amount paid, instead of being considered a donation which would be tax deductible.
