About
2-Step Verification is an additional security measure that requires users to verify their identities upon logging in. Examples of 2-step verification services include Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and text verification. Most verification methods require a mobile device but users who cannot or would prefer not to use one may download the desktop version of Authy by Twilio (available here).
With 2-Step Verification enabled, every time you log in to Giving Days from a new device, you will be sent a new verification code. Enter the code and submit verification to log in. You will have the option to “trust” a device to bypass verification for 180 days.
How do I enroll in 2-Step Verification?
If you would like to enable 2-Step Verification, navigate to the system user login page (click here), log into your account, and follow these steps.
- In the user menu in the upper-right corner, choose 2-Step Verification.
- The 2-Step Verification process will open. Click Get Started.
- Select your option: Text Message or Mobile Authenticator.
We recommend an authenticator app as it is least likely to fail. If you are using the desktop version of Authy, you will select Mobile Authenticator to proceed.
(instruction continued below, based on your selection)
Text Message
If you select Use Text Message,
- Enter a mobile phone number where you can receive verification texts
- Click Update Phone Number
- You will then be sent your first verification code. Enter the code into the field provided and click Enable 2-Step Verification to complete the process.
🛈 By checking the box to Trust this device, you will not have to resubmit a verification code for the next 180 days when logging into your account from this device.
🛈 If you do not receive a code within 1-2 minutes, click the link Resend Verification Code. If you think you may have entered your mobile number incorrectly, choose Cancel and restart the process.
- Once verified, you will be shown a list of backup codes for use if you should need to log in and you don't have access to your phone. We strongly recommend that you save these codes somewhere secure where you can access them without having to use your phone. These codes may be viewed when signed into your account in the 2-Factor Verification menu.
Mobile Authenticator
If you select Use Mobile Authenticator,
- Download and/or open one of the displayed, approved authenticator apps and click Verify Mobile Device
- A QR code will be displayed. Within your app, add your account via your device’s camera and scan the displayed QR Code.
🛈 If you do not see a QR code, your account can be added via the 16 character code provided on screen.
- Upon adding the account to your authenticator app, it will be displayed on the screen as Neon One and will include a verification code. Enter the displayed code and select Enable 2-Step Verification to complete the process.
