This glossary contains terms used throughout the Giving Days system and Support Center content.
Anonymous - Donors may elect to make anonymous contributions. The donation will be reflected on public fundraising pages but the donor’s name, location, and amount will be hidden from view. When signed in, the donor’s information is visible to nonprofit users and donation lists will indicate when a donation was made anonymously.
Completely Anonymous - Donors may elect to make completely anonymous contributions. This will hide the donor’s information throughout the fundraising pages and reports. Even nonprofit users cannot view the donor’s personal information but will see details related to the transaction such as amount, date, and payment type.
Campaign - Campaigns are associated with an organization for the purpose of raising funds. A campaign often has a start and end date. Examples include a giving day, an end of year campaign, or a capital campaign.
Note: Giving Day campaigns are administered by the Giving Day host and cannot be edited by a participating nonprofit.
Constituent - A person who has made donations, registered for events, or created a fundraising page.
Donor - A person who donates something, especially money to a fund or charity.
Fundraiser - A person who creates one or more peer-to-peer fundraising pages.
Fundraiser Page - A page a fundraiser creates to raise money. Contains a title, appeal for donations, and an ability to start a donation checkout process.
Fundraiser Templates - Templates are fundraiser pages that can be initially set up by nonprofits and sent directly a fundraiser.
Giving Day Profile - A profile created by a participating nonprofit organization in connection with a Giving Day campaign for the purposes of nonprofit participation approval and to be included on a Giving Day Profile Page.
Giving Day Profile Page - A web page visible on a Giving Day website which highlights a participating nonprofit organization. Also referred to as an organization profile page or an organization page.
Host - An organization that is hosting a Giving Day. A Giving Day host usually serves as the sponsor and lead promoter of the event.
Peer-to-Peer Fundraising - Fundraising done by an individual on behalf of a nonprofit organization.
