During the event creation process in the Next Generation Events builder, if your organization uses the membership module, you may select to allow only members to purchase tickets for an event. Furthermore, if you have multiple membership levels, you may allow only a specific membership level or levels to purchase tickets for an event.
Please note: This feature applies only to organizations that utilize the Membership module in Neon CRM.

Enable the Members-Only Feature
You may enable the members-only feature either during the event creation process or after the event has already been created.
Enable the Members-Only Feature During Event Creation
To enable the feature during the event creation process, you will be presented with the question Who can purchase this event? on the last page of the event builder. (Please see the three guides linked at the beginning of this guide if you plan to add this feature during the event creation process.)
Enable the Members-Only Feature After an Event has been Created
To enable this feature after you have already created an event:
1. Select Events from the navigation menu and then select Events on the drop-down menu.
On the Events list page:
2. Select the event to which you wish to add the members-only feature.
On the event's Overview page:
3. Select Edit Event on the left side menu.
In the Edit Event module:
4. Select Publish in the left side menu.
On the Publish page:
5. Provide an answer the question Who can purchase this event? as follows:
- Public - This default option will allow anyone, regardless of membership status, to purchase tickets for the event.
- All Member Levels - This option allows only members (of all membership levels) to purchase tickets for the event.
- Specific Member Levels - This option allows only members of a specific membership level or levels (i.e, Gold Level Members) to purchase tickets for the event. When you select this option, a new field will appear in which you must select the membership level(s) that can purchase tickets for the event.
6. Select Save Changes in the lower right corner when you have made your selection.
Sell Tickets to a Members-Only Event as a System Admin
As a system admin you may sell tickets for a members-only event to anyone, regardless of membership status. If you sell tickets for a members-only event to a non-member, you will see two items that differ from the normal sales process:
- On the Order Summary page, you will see a banner indicating the ticket buyer is missing the required membership (as outlined in red in the image below). You may simply override this by continuing with checkout.
- When you submit the order, you will see the pop-up below. Simply select Submit Order to purchase the tickets for the constituent.
If you need assistance in purchasing tickets for a constituent as a system admin, see the two guides linked at the end of this guide.
What Does the Public See for a Members-Only Event?
When you make an event members-only, there are a few things the public will see that differ from a normal event, as follows:
- A Members Only notice on the event on the event list page for your organization.
- A message at the top of the event ticket sales page indicating the event is a member-only event and asking the constituent to log in to purchase tickets (notice the Get Tickets button is also grayed out).
- If the event is limited to only a specific membership level, and the constituent attempting to purchase tickets is not a member at that specified level, after logging in, they will see a message at the top of the event ticket sales page indicating they do not have the required membership (notice, too, the Get Tickets button is grayed out).
