Learn how to assign an attendee to a ticket for an event in this step-by-step guide. This process is especially helpful if one person purchases a group of tickets for multiple people. This process allows you to assign each ticket to a specific attendee. This help guide will cover how to assign a specific attendee to a ticket purchased by another constituent in Neon CRM.
Recommended Reading Before You Start
When a constituent purchases multiple tickets for an event, that individual is purchasing tickets to be used, not only by the purchaser, but also for other attendees. This feature allows the purchaser (and you as the system administrator) to assign each ticket to a specific attendee. This can improve attendee tracking and ensure a smooth event check-in process. Note: The purchaser (or registrant) must provide the name and email for each attendee, unless the attendee already has an account in Neon CRM.

Enabling the Specifying Attendees Feature
As a system admin, you have the ability to modify attendee information at any time. If, however, an organization wishes for constituents to be able to assign tickets to specific attendees when tickets are purchased, the organization may enable this feature during the event creation process. In step 3 of the Basic Information section in the event creation wizard, you (and organization system admins) will now see the question below. Select Yes to allow constituents to assign tickets to specific attendees.
If you wish to enable this feature for an event that has already been created:
1. Select Events in the navigation menu and then select Events on the drop-down menu.
2. On the Events page, select the event you wish to modify.
3. On the event overview page, select Edit Event in the left side menu.
4. At the bottom of the first page, select Yes for the following question (as outlined in red below).
5. Select Save Changes in the lower right corner of the page.
Assigning a Ticket to an Attendee as a System Admin
As the system admin, you have the ability to specify the attendees for tickets purchased by a constituent. You may do this in two ways, as follows:
- On the backend of a purchase (if the question shown above was answered as No during the event set-up process), or
- During the ticket purchasing process (if the question shown above was answered as Yes during the event set-up process).
Both of these processes are outlined below.
Assigning a Ticket to an Attendee on the Backend After a Ticket Purchase
If, during the event set-up, you answered No to the question Would you like to assign each ticket to a specific attendee? in the event set-up wizard, you may assign tickets to specific attendees on the backend. To assign a ticket to a specific attendee in this manner:
1. Select Events in the navigation menu and then select Events on the drop-down menu.
2. On the Events page, select the event you wish to modify.
3. On the event overview page, select Attendees in the left side menu.
On the Attendees page, if needed, you may search for the constituent who purchased the tickets in the search field in the upper right corner and/or filter by event occurrence in the upper left corner (per the image below).
4. Locate the tickets you wish to assign to attendees by locating the Registrant (or ticket purchaser) or Order ID in the list. You may use the search bar feature at the top of list, if needed.
5. Select the three dot Action Menu in one of the Registrant's ticket rows and then select Edit Attendee.
6. On the Edit Attendee Information pop-up, if the attendee already has a Neon CRM account, you may search for them in the top search field. Otherwise, enter the First Name, Last Name, and Email Address of the attendee to whom you wish to assign this ticket. You may choose to send a confirmation email, as needed.
7. Select Add Attendee.
The Attendee's name will now appear in the Attendee column (as seen in the image below). You may repeat this process for all of the tickets purchased by the constituent who originally purchased the tickets, as applicable.
Assigning a Ticket to an Attendee during the Ticket Purchasing Process
If, during the event set-up, you answered Yes to the question Would you like to assign each ticket to a specific attendee? in the event set-up wizard, you may assign each ticket to a specific attendee during the ticket purchasing process as follows:
1. Complete the ticket selection process. This process differs depending on the type of event (for example, online and general admission versus assigned seating). See the guides in the Recommended Related Articles section at the end of this guide for more information on these processes.
2. Once you have selected your tickets, you will see the following page. On this page, and the following page(s) (depending upon the number of tickets purchased), you may assign each ticket to a specific attendee. If the attendee already has an account in Neon CRM, you may search for and locate the attendee in the top search field. Otherwise, enter a First Name, Last Name, and Email Address of the attendee to whom you wish to assign the ticket.
3. Select Next until all tickets are assigned. (As a system admin, you may select Skip if you do not wish to assign tickets to specific attendees at the time of purchase.)
Once you assign all tickets, as applicable, you will then see the normal checkout screen to purchase the tickets. Please note: As seen in the image below, if you select the arrow in the Order Summary section, it will toggle down to display the list of attendees to whom you assigned the tickets.
4. Once all payment information has been entered, select Submit Order to complete the purchase.
