Clearing a Setting Override for One Campaign
As easily as administrators override a parent setting, they can also clear a customized setting to allow groups and campaigns to re-inherit their parent setting. This is handy when you want to clear a setting from a specific campaign so that it inherits the default settings of its parent group.
- To clear an override for just one campaign, select the top level Campaigns tab.
- Select the campaign you wish to edit.
- Then, select the Emails tab, then Automated Emails.
- Select the Lock icon on the email you wish to edit. Then select Clear Override.
- Select the Clear Override button to confirm this action.
Clearing a Setting Override for a Group
There are some cases where you may need to clear all overrides for the whole group. For example, you have configured your automated “Donation Confirmation” email to read differently from other campaigns within its group. However, your organization has decided that all campaigns within this group should have the same “Donation Confirmation” email for consistency. To do this, you will clear this setting at the group entity level.
- Navigate to the group in which your campaign is located.
- Select the Emails tab. Then select Automated Emails.
- From the Donations Confirmation row, select the Lock icon. Then select Clear all child overrides.
- Select the Clear Overrides button to confirm this action.
- When you reopen this setting, you can see your reinstated settings in the Preview window. The customized setting has been cleared and now inherits information from the parent.
Clearing All Setting Overrides on a Group
You will clear overrides from the parent entity to accomplish this task. Ultimately, this forces a setting to be inherited by all child entities of the entire organization. Please note that this feature is only available for settings and not Campaign Dictionary terms.
- Return to the organization entity level. Then select Automated Emails from the Emails tab.
- In the row you wish to override, select the Lock icon. Then select Clear all child overrides.
- Select the Clear Override button to confirm this action.
Please Note: the Lock icon will not appear closed at the organization entity level, since a closed lock indicates that a setting is inherited from a parent entity. The organization entity level is the highest level and does not have a parent.
