Instructions
There are two ways a constituent can sign up to be a donation matcher for a campaign (i.e. match donations made to a campaign).
- If a donor wishes to match donations via a credit card, they can complete an online donation match form accessed from either the campaign homepage or an individual fundraiser’s page for the campaign. The card will be charged the total matched amount at the end of the campaign.
- If a donor wishes to match donations via check or cash (or any offline card option), the Neon CRM admin can create the donation match on behalf of the matcher. The donation matcher must submit the total collected funds to your organization at the end of the campaign.
Let’s explore both options below. (Note: In order for a constituent to sign up to be a campaign donation matcher, you must first enable donation matching on your campaign and turn on the promote matchers widget. Refer to the Configuring Donation Matching guide to complete this process.)
Creating a Donation Match (submitted via credit card)
When a donation matcher intends to pay for matched donations via a credit card at the end of the match period, they can set up their donation match themselves. They can access the Donation Matching form in two ways:
1. Complete one of the following:
a. Select the Match This Campaign button on the campaign home page.
b. Select the Match My Page button on an individual fundraiser’s page.
After selecting either button, the Donation Matching form will appear.
2. Complete the Donation Matching form.
Once this form is complete, the constituent becomes a donation matcher. The matcher’s credit card will be charged the total matched amount at the end of the match period. The new donation matcher will appear on the Matches page in the CRM (see the final image in this article).
Creating a Donation Match (submitted via check, cash, or offline credit card)
When a donation matcher intends to pay for matched donations via a check or cash (or other offline credit card option) at the end of the match period, the Neon CRM admin can create the donation match on behalf of the donation matcher. (Note: The donation matcher must submit the collected matched funds to your organization at the end of the match period. The Neon CRM admin must then verify the funds and fulfill the match. Refer to Ending and Fulfilling a Donation Match for an explanation of this fulfillment process). To create such a donation match:
1. Select Transactions in the navigation menu. Then select Matches on the drop-down menu.
2. Select Add Match.
The New Match pop-up appears. This pop-up provides many options for the donation match.
3. Complete the New Match pop-up, as applicable.
4. Select Save.
The new donation matcher will appear on the Matches page. (Note: Donation matchers who intend to pay for the donation match via credit card will also appear on this page once they complete the online form - as explained in the first section of this guide.)
