How are Endurance Pledges applied towards fundraising goals?
When an endurance pledge is submitted, an endurance pledge object will track all the details of the pledge, including the running total pledge (pledge amount per unit multiplied by the number of units completed). The total pledge amount will aggregate towards all goals and tallies within the system, including emails and triggers.
For example, if a fundraiser with a goal amount of $100 receives a pledge of $10 per mile, as soon as they complete 10 miles they will have reached their fundraising goal (even though the pledge has not been fulfilled or charged yet).
How are Endurance Pledges totaled and donations created at the end of an endurance challenge?
When the endurance pledge is ended, a single donation record is generated in Neon Fundraise, one per recipient for the total amount pledged. For example, if a donor pledges $10 per mile for 5 fundraisers who each complete 10 miles, at the end of the pledge 5 donations in the amount of $50 each will be generated, one per fundraiser. This donation is a standard donation for all practical purposes, including recent donations lists, Admin grids, reports, and CRM sync.
If the endurance pledge was submitted with a credit card by the donor through the endurance pledge form, the donor will be charged for their donation automatically at the end of the pledge period, and the endurance pledge record will be marked Fulfilled.
If the endurance pledge was created by an administrator in the admin and the donor has submitted their check to fulfill it at the end of the pledge period, the endurance pledge record should be marked fulfilled by an administrator.
Emails
The following emails are sent during the endurance pledge flow. Those listed in bold may be modified in the Admin, under Email > Automated Emails > Endurance Pledge Emails.
- Donor receives "Endurance Pledge Created" email upon creation of pledge
- Administrator receives "Endurance Pledge Created" email upon creation of pledge
- Fundraiser receives "Fundraiser Received Endurance Pledge" email upon creation of pledge toward that fundraiser's page (note that all fundraisers receive this email when a pledge is toward all fundraisers on a campaign)
- Team captain receives "Team Received Endurance Pledge" email upon creation of pledge toward that captain's team page
- Donor receives "Endurance Pledge Completed" email when pledge is closed and settled (this can happen when the challenge or pledge reaches its end date or maximum amount, or if an administrator manually ends the pledge). This email should serve as the receipt for the donor's contribution.
- Donor receives "Endurance Pledge Charge Failed" email if the payment at the end of the pledge failed to charge. In this event, the administrator and donor should coordinate to determine how to fulfill the outstanding pledge. Note that there is currently no way in the system to fulfill an existing pledge via online payment.
- Administrator receives "Endurance Pledge Charge Failed" email if the payment at the end of the pledge failed to charge.
